Linda's latest update from the Sea to Sea Bike Tour:

Hello Everyone,

Life goes fast, especially when cycling down a steep hill at speeds as high as 75 km per hour! This was one of my euphoric days of long down hills and the wind blowing in my face as I reached the fastest speed ever with my bike. Life with the Sea to Sea tour was not all simple though, there was a day with constant uphills, where my legs were aching and  my brain is saying, “No more hills!”, or the day where the wind was against me and I wondered why I couldn’t get the speedometer to go past 20km. But the challenge was on and my commitment to ride every centimeter of the 3 weeks stayed strong.

It’s amazing how the terrain can change from day to day. We passed through the desert with temperatures soaring to 120F and then watched how the vegetation began to take on life as we neared the foothills. Looking in the distance, we saw our road curl around a mountain and wondered, “Really?!”  We learned to take the trek one cycle at a time, to live life in small sections, rather than get overwhelmed with the big picture. It was awesome to see how creative out great God is. As the landscape varied, so did the people. The Zuni people, the Navaho’s and the Mormon’s showed us that everyone lives differently, and we learned to appreciate their skills and their ability to adapt to their environment.

Poverty was prevalent in New Mexico and parts of Arizona. One didn’t have to look hard to see that many people struggle with day to day living. As a group, we were able to visit several places that were aided by previous Sea to Sea tours. The money received was used to help educate and encourage those in need. And those that benefited from the grants were eager to share and pay forward their blessings.

The Sea to Sea tour continues until the end of August. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to cycle for 3 weeks and broaden my appreciation for all the wonderful people who volunteered to make the tour a success; for the organizers who put in so much effort to make things run smoothly; for those who took the time to raise funds to support a very worthwhile cause; and for those who weren’t able to go, but gave such positive support and encouragement.

To God be the glory; for it is in Him that we live and move and have our being,

Linda
