This year the SERVE Team will be going to Victoria from July 14 – 21, 2018. I participated on SERVE last year and greatly enjoyed helping people in Vancouver. So, this year I signed up again so I can help people in Victoria. The details haven’t been totally worked out yet, but we will probably be working with the homeless, as well as the elderly or others that need a helping hand.
One thing I am looking forward to is the hands-on work. I love helping when and where I can, so this is something that I can’t wait to do. I really enjoy seeing how happy people are just because of small gestures like helping in their yard or cleaning up garbage. I hope that we will be able to do these kinds of things again this year. I feel like this is something that God was calling me to do. Last year, when I first heard about it I was a bit sceptical about going, but am so glad that I did. It was one of the best experiences of my life. My only wish is that it was longer. As soon as I heard that SERVE was being planned again for this year, I said “yes!” without hesitation.
