Since May 1, thousands of people in the central-southern United States have been forced to evacuate their homes, 24 people have died, and ten are still missing. Residents across Texas and Oklahoma are urgently in need of help as they face the devastating damage left by a series of storms that caused massive flooding and spawned tornados in their communities. As state and local officials struggle to respond, the U.S. President issued a federal disaster declaration. World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) has already sent early response coordinators to assess the damage and meet with survivors and local representatives. As soon as search and rescue personnel complete their work, World Renew DRS would like to deploy volunteers to help homeowners clear trees and debris from their property, shovel muck out of their houses, and spray for mold.

Mr. Rodriguez, his wife, and their three young children survived the flooding caused by 11 inches of rain in Texas on Memorial Day 2015. Mr. Rodriguez already knows he lost his job due to the flood. Their car was carried away in the water, and the family escaped with their lives and a stroller filled with their personal belongings. World Renew DRS early response coordinators have already met once the Rodriguez family to explain the best first steps to take to begin to put their lives back together again.

Will you help World Renew extend God’s love to flood survivors in Texas and Oklahoma who are overwhelmed by this disaster? A long-term response is needed to repair extensive damage to many flooded homes. In addition to early and rapid response, unmet needs assessments, construction estimates, and training local recovery groups, the cost for managing a long-term DRS volunteer reconstruction site for one year is $150,000.

World Renew DRS depends on your donations to respond the needs of those that others forget after a disaster. We need your support! Please give generously in the offering today for World Renew Disaster Response Services “Spring Storms 2015.” You can also give online at worldrenew.net/donate, or by phone at 800-552-7972 (US) or 800-730-3490 (Canada).
