Offering for weeks 3 & 4 of November: The special offering for the last weeks in November is for the Ministry to Seafarers which is a ministry dedicated to enhancing the lives of Seafarers regardless of race, religion, gender, or rank. Through ship visiting advocacy, hospitality showing and sharing Jesus's love by caring for their physical, emotional, spiritual, and justice needs. Their vision is to visit as many ships as possible which pass through the Port of Vancouver in order to share the Good News of God’s love in Jesus Christ with seafarers in Word and deed by providing literature and other resources. Gary Roosma is currently serving as the chaplain for the Port of Vancouver, which not only involves visiting cargo ships in port, but also serving seafarers in the ministry centres.

Guess Who's Coming to Lunch: We are doing another mystery lunch here at Willoughby on Sunday, November 23! If you are intersted in hosting or being a guest, sign-up by filling out a card after the service in the lobby! Sign up with all your information included from October 26 and hand in to Rose (or email rose.scholtens@gmail.com) or Tamara by November 16. Guests bring the Dessert & Hosts prepare the Lunch!

Donation Request: Joe Tieyiri, he runs an NGO called TJTP (The Joseph Tieyiri Project) back in Ghana for the less endowed but brainy or talented kids in the society. He is looking for donations for school children in Grades 1-12, if you have any used clothes, shoes that you were going to donate to the thrift store, you can bring them by the church office for collection. School supplies, such as pens, exercise books, mathematical sets etc, are welcome as well.
Emergency First Aid & CPR: We still have plenty of seats to fill for Thursday, November 27, at 9:00 a.m.. Join us in an informative training session: Emergency First Aid & CPR course. Learn essential CPR, lifesaving skills, small wound care, and other tips and tricks. Hosted here at the church, please join us for this life-altering class. You never know when you need first aid...
What You Learn: How to respond to emergencies, such as choking emergencies including conscious and unconscious, recognition of anaphylaxis, recognizing signs of heart attack and stroke, preforming CPR and using an AED - adults, children, and babies. Youth: Join us on Sunday's at 6:00pm for an evening of devotion and fun!!! Youth is for children in grades 8-12 and they meet every Sunday evening here at Willoughby. Blood Donor Clinic: For the month of November we will be hosting two Blood Donor Clinics, one on Friday, November 28th starting at 12pm and one on Saturday, November 29th at 10am. If you are able, please join in saving lives together by donating blood. Appointments are necessary and can be booked at blood.ca.
This year we are bringing back 'Cookies for Kids,' which is connected to our November Special Offering for World Renew -- World Hunger. We are inviting everyone in the church to participate! Bring a dozen cookies on Sunday, November 30, for our Kids Ministry children to 'sell' after the service, and help us raise more support for World Renew.

Women's Connect Christmas Event: Join us for a joyful morning as we celebrate the Christmas season together! Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025 Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm. We will be making a beautiful Christmas Greenery Swag, sipping on hot beverages, enjoying delicious treats, and most importantly, connecting with one another in the spirit of the season. The End of Youth Ministry?: Our world has changed dramatically in the past several years. The pandemic, the political climate, the explosion of AI, and the overall pace of life are just some of the factors that have altered our daily routines, including how and when we gather as a church community. While congregations have had to adapt their ministries to respond to these changing contexts, youth ministry is an area that has notably struggled. In addition to seeing a decline in the number of participating youth, many churches are finding that their historical methods no longer seem to be having a meaningful impact on students' lives.Using Andrew Root's book, The End of Youth Ministry? as a guide, Rick Zomer, Thrive Faith Formation Ministry Consultant, will engage us as together we consider why we might be struggling in our youth ministry efforts and explore what churches may need to do differently in response. In-person on Saturday, November 22, 9:00 - 11:00 am in the 1Life space at Fleetwood CRC.

Synod: The report of the Task Force to Develop Church Order Procedures to Discipline Officebearers has been available online since Oct. 29, and executive summaries of the report are provided in English, Spanish, and Korean. These documents can be found at crcna.org/SynodResources. The report will be presented to Synod 2026 next June for discussion and decision. In the meantime, Christian Reformed churches and classes have received the document for their review.
