Hey slayers, it’s ya girl Matteya. Today my group went to Mustard Seed Soup Kitchen and Sanctuary for Youth. At Mustard Seed I spent my morning preparing lunch. We made Potato Bacon Chowder, I cut lots of potatoes and bacon. I then served lunch to the people who came. I helped one lady named Daphne who was in a wheel chair. I carried her plate for her to her table. I began to talk to her but for some reason she wasn’t responding very much. She then began to tell me about how when she was younger she became hard of hearing. Her parents got frustrated with her and kicked her to the streets. She talked to me about how even though she went through obstacles, Jesus was still working in her life in miraculous ways. This was so impactful to me because she had nothing, her whole life was taken away from her but she still saw light in her life. This has made me think deeper about appreciating what I have and not wanting what others have because I am very privileged and have a loving family and a roof over my head. My day was so inspiring and I worked very hard.
