Prayer in the Power of the Holy Spirit

“Jesus prayed and then took action” was the heart of the   recent Power of Prayer conference attended by Jim Wright, Jeanne Wust and Fred Noordam.  The goal of the conference was to bring together the Word of God and the Spirit of God, equipping participants to be closer to the Father and enabling them to hear the voice of Jesus as He speaks into their lives. With particular focus on Jesus’s ministry and the components of prayer (adoration, confession, meditation, listening, petition & intercession), the combination of participation in prayer exercises and the sharing of real stories led to a dynamic, mystical experience with the Holy Spirit.

Traditional thoughts about prayer were challenged.  Rather than understanding prayer as a head and heart activity, participants were encouraged to think of prayer as ‘actions in faith’ and to focus on the “authority” in which they pray, to ask in Jesus’ name and believe in miracles. In addition, many practical ideas for enhancing prayer life were shared. Ultimately, participants were encouraged to follow Christ's example: to pray fervently and then act, relying on conversation with God first!
