We continue in our Shema series by exploring what it looks like to love the LORD our God with all of our strength. Continuing in the Gospel of Matthew, we will consider what strength looks like in Christ’s teachings to the disciples. What kind of strength is this? Where does this strength come from? The development of spiritual strength is a growing process which Syd Hielema calls ‘sturdification.’ We need to grow sturdy so as to not be blown over by every gust of wind that comes along the way. As we journey through this Eastertide season, we are reminding ourselves of the deep need for growth, and that our strength is a gift to be nurtured, fed, and developed.
