The End of Youth Ministry?

Our world has changed dramatically in the past several years. The pandemic, the political climate, the explosion of AI, and the overall pace of life are just some of the factors that have altered our daily routines, including how and when we gather as a church community. While congregations have had to adapt their ministries to respond to these changing contexts, youth ministry is an area that has notably struggled. In addition to seeing a decline in the number of participating youth, many churches are finding that their historical methods no longer seem to be having a meaningful impact on students' lives.Using Andrew Root's book, The End of Youth Ministry? as a guide, Rick Zomer, Thrive Faith Formation Ministry Consultant, will engage us as together we consider why we might be struggling in our youth ministry efforts and explore what churches may need to do differently in response.
