What does world hunger really mean? When we talk about the world’s hungry, we are not talking about people who are missing a meal or two. We are talking about 821 million people around the world who lack regular access to nutritious food. Without regular, nutritious meals, people can become acutely malnourished which severely impacts their ability to work to their fullest capacity or provide for themselves.  The United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization tells us that 25,000 adults and children die every day from hunger-related causes. Addressing world hunger requires more than a meal. It requires responses to conflict and instability,     economic challenges, adverse climate events, infrastructure improvements, gender inequity, and education, among other things. Your participation in this year’s World Renew World Hunger Campaign strengthens their systematic approach to addressing the challenges that keep 821 million people around the world hunger today. A special offering for World Renew will be received on Sunday, Nov 24. To designate your gifts, write World Renew on the memo line of your cheque or envelope.
