4 Easy Steps to Join the Virtual Choir

Our church buildings may be closed, but that can’t stop us from worshiping together. Below you will find a link to a video of the song to sing along to. Follow the instructions outlined here:

1. Practice

Grab a set of headphones, plug into your device, and practice singing along with the video a few times. The quality of your singing voice doesn’t matter as much as your desire to worship. Whether you've sung your whole life or can barely keep a tune, whether you are 2 or 102 years old, or whether you are a parent or child, there is a spot for you in the choir.

2. Setup

You will need the following:

A device with a camera and a built-in microphone. Something that you can easily record a selfie video with, like a phone, tablet, or laptop.

A separate device with a pair of headphones. This allows you to watch and listen along to the music while recording your video with the first device.

An evenly-lit, quiet environment. Try to get natural light on your face from a window. Make sure there aren’t any bright light sources behind you or above you - we want to see your face!

Something safe to hold your camera. Try to film yourself as close to eye level as possible, framing yourself from your chest to a few inches above your head.

Tips:

Try only using the headphones with one ear, so you can hear yourself better with the other ear.

If you have multiple people and cannot use headphones, put the device playing music at a lower volume and possibly behind you so we can hear your voices primarily in the video.

Audio quality from the built-in microphone will be fine, but try to avoid echoey rooms with high ceilings or tile floors.

3. Record Your Video

This is the part where you get to worship. Don't worry about what anyone else might think, just pop in your headphones, listen to the music, and focus in on the Lord.

Recording Steps:

Start your video recording. Make sure to film in landscape, not portrait.

Start the video clip. Before the song starts, listen to the 4 beat tempo and then clap along 4 times. This will help us sync everyone's video and audio together.

Worship together! There will be many voices to blend in with, so don’t worry if you make mistakes. Sing like you would if it were our first Sunday back at church from isolation!
