May Special Offering:  This is the last Sunday to give to the Special Offering!!! This month we're joining Advokate Life and Education Services in their Annual Baby Bottle Campaign to support their hope for women pregnancy services initiative. All funds raised go directly to supporting vulnerable women and families facing unplanned pregnancy.  Thanks to services including pregnancy counseling, ultrasounds,  postpartum support,  they've seen countless lives saved and changed.  Let's help make a difference in these young lives. 

Combined Service:  This Sunday, May 28th for Pentecost we will be having a combined service with Living Word Church, they will also be joining us for our Potluck Lunch.  Let's welcome them into our Church Community this Sunday!

Celebration of Life for Ken Elgersma:  The funeral for Ken Elgersma will be held here at Willoughby Church on Tuesday, May 30th at 2:00pm.  For those unable to attend, click here to view via livestream.

Potluck Lunch: We will be getting together as a church and community for a potluck farewell lunch for Bert Slofstra!! The theme of the potluck is  "Soup & Buns & Salad" on Sunday, May 28th after the church service. Please bring enough soup, buns or salad to share. Cake, coffee & juice will be provided by the Church. This will be a time for fellowship and to thank Bert for being apart of our church community for all these months!! See you all there!

Langley Food Bank Donations:  The Deacons have set up a permanent basket in the lobby for Food Bank Donations, you can bring in canned goods, personal items, baby items or dry goods at anytime the church office is open or on Sunday mornings. Thanks for continuing to support this great cause!!!

Church Benches:  You may have realized this past Sunday, we have moved some of the church pews to create better leg room in the aisles.  As a result there are some benches that were removed and now need a good home!  If you are interested in one or more of the extra benches, please reach out to Tamara at tamara@willoughbychurch.com for your request!

Youth Group (Grades 8-12):  As we are coming to the end of the season for Youth Group, here is the final schedule:

  • May 21 Long weekend NO YOUTH
  • May 28 Youth Dinner 5 to 7pm
  • June 4 Bible Study at Willoughby with Joanna & Will 7-830pm
  • June 11 Wrap up Pool Party more details to follow

Walk in the Spirit of Reconciliation: Join us May 26, 27 and 28 for the 8th annual Walk in the Spirit of Reconciliation! We walk on the land between Fort Langley and Mission in lament and solidarity of First Nations peoples remembering the harm done by Indian Residential Schools. You can choose to do a self-guided walk with family & friends, attend a larger event, walk together as a big group, or do a solidarity walk in your own community. Walk any portion of the walk, whether it's 1 KM or more, or join one of the organized groups that are walking together this year. Canadian National Gathering: May 25-28 in Ottawa - Every three years delegates from across the 11 Canadian CRC classes gather at the Canadian National Gathering to strategically celebrate, discern, and envision bold next steps for the Canadian CRC; locally, regionally, and nationally. These gatherings are a way to have national conversations about ministry both in local congregations and as a national and binational church. This year, Jenny DeGroot, Evelyn Bouwman, and Pastor Liz will be among the 100+ who will gather in Ottawa next weekend on the campus of Algonquin College. A key emphasis of the gathering will be to discern the next steps in the church's call for reconciliation with Indigenous brothers and sisters.

Women's Connect Social: We are having another Women's Social on Saturday June 3rd at 10am.  This time we'll be making a Succulent Planter!!  The cost is $20 per person to cover the cost of materials.  Refreshments will be provided.  You can sign up in the foyer before or after the service.  Please bring a friend! All are welcome!!

Volunteers Needed: Do you want to serve??  We need volunteers for all areas of the church. If you are interested in being involved in any way including on tech teams, greeting, or in hospitality.  Please see Tamara or email tamara@willoughbychurch.com, thanks!!

Faith & Family Night: Willoughby Church has been invited to particpate in the Faith & Family night at the Langley Events Centre with the Vancouver Bandits Basketball Team on Friday, July 14th at 7:30pm.  Doors open at 6:00pm and there will be a half time sock toss, post game faith based player Q/A, as well as a mini concert series.  Tickets are $15.00 or $12.50 if we have a group of 20 or more!  If you are interested in attending, please email Tamara Wevers by June 27th at tamara@willoughbychurch.com to sign up.

Student Fund Committee Classis BCSE: Students intending to go into ordained ministry in the Christian Reformed Church may apply for financial support after their undergraduate studies are completed and they qualify for entry at Calvin Seminary or a comparable institution recognized by Classis.
