Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) has one goal: a world without hunger.  Through a partnership of 15 church and church-based agencies they work toward this goal by:

  • providing food in times of crisis for hungry people in the developing world;
  • helping people grow more food to better feed themselves and their families over the long term;
  • and providing nutritional support to malnourished people with a focus on pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and young children.

They also advocate for improvements in national and international public policies regarding global hunger and look for ways to increase and deepen the involvement of Canadians in efforts to end global poverty.

In 2016-17, Canadian Foodgrains Bank provided more than $41 million of assistance for over 900,000 people in 35 countries.

Donations to the CFGB are eligible to be matched on a 4:1 basis through their ongoing grant agreement with the Government of Canada. When we hold a special offering for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the offering is ‘deposited’ into the World Renew account at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and used for World Renew programs.

On March 25, a second offering will be held in the worship service for this need, however your gifts for CFGB are welcome any Sunday this month. Write CFGB on the memo line of your cheque or envelope to indicate the designation of your funds.
