June Special Offering: This month our Special Offering is for The King’s University, located in Edmonton, Alberta. It offers exceptional liberal arts education from a Christian perspective and serves students from across Canada and around the world.  They believe that the world is studied best from the knowledge that it was created and belongs to God.  Being founded in the Christian faith, they try to reflect Christ’s love and grace to all members of their community, leaving students prepared for a future of bringing renewal and reconciliation in every walk of life. 

Meal Hosting:  The Young Adults have made their schedule for the next few months and would love to continue the tradition of having their dinner and devotions at church members households.  If you would like to host (or re-host) the young adults on a Monday during the summer, please reach out to Jilise or email youngadults@willoughbychurch.com.

Summer Student Position:  Willoughby Church is inviting applications for a summer student staff position. The successful applicant will assist with planning summer activities for kids. (Flexible schedule: 6 - 8 weeks max. - 20 - 25 hrs per week - June 26 through August 2023.) Eligible candidates must be 16 and older. The deadline for applications is June 15, 2023. Congregational Meeting: We will be having a Congregational Meeting this month, on Monday, June 19th at 7:00pm. We will be reviewing and approving the Financial Statements for 2022. To access the related documents for the meeting, you can go to the website or hardcopies are available upon request from Tamara through the church office. Hope to see you all there!!

Willoughby Church Connect:  You are invited to a Church Connect Event from, Friday, June 23, 5 pm – Sunday, June 25 ending with pancake breakfast for everyone and anyone who comes on Sunday morning at 9 am.  Come with your camping gear and park on the parking lot or pitch your tent in the back lawn area. Indigenous Ministry: Hearts Exchanged: This Fall - Hearts Exchanged is a learning and action journey designed to equip Reformed Christians to engage with Indigneous people as neighbours. It's a great way to learn more about the history of Canada. You can participate in a cohort with people from your area! Read more and express your interest today: crcna.org/hearts-exchanged

Blood Donor Clinic: This month we will be hosting two Blood Donor Clinics on Tuesday, June 6th & Tuesday, 13th starting at 1pm. If you are able, please join in saving lives together by donating blood.  Appointments are necessary and can be booked at blood.ca.

Langley Food Bank Donations:  The Deacons have set up a permanent basket in the lobby for Food Bank Donations, you can bring in canned goods, personal items, baby items or dry goods at anytime the church office is open or on Sunday mornings. Thanks for continuing to support this great cause!

Church Benches:  We still have a few church benches available!! If you are interested in one or more of the extra benches, please reach out to Tamara at tamara@willoughbychurch.com for your request!

Youth Group (Grades 8-12):  As we are coming to the end of the season for Youth Group, here is the final schedule:

Faith & Family Night: Willoughby Church has been invited to particpate in the Faith & Family night at the Langley Events Centre with the Vancouver Bandits Basketball Team on Friday, July 14th at 7:30pm.  Doors open at 6:00pm and there will be a half time sock toss, post game faith based player Q/A, as well as a mini concert series.  Tickets are $15.00 or $12.50 if we have a group of 20 or more!  If you are interested in attending, please email Tamara Wevers by June 27th at tamara@willoughbychurch.com to sign up.

Youth Justice Project - Diaconal Ministries Canada is helping teens make a difference in their communities! Through the Youth Justice Project, we encourage youth to identify an injustice in their community and share ways they hope to address it. Approved applicants receive up to $6000 in grants, one-on-one coaching, and support from NewGround staff.
